chichibaby asked:

I am active duty Army, and I need to file for custody of my son is this something the JAG can assist me with or do I need to go to my county family court? Also, wil JAG charge me for this and if so how much? Thanks in advance.

Any legal service that you receive on post is free. I’m not sure about the custody service or not.

While the JAG does not charge for their services they are not able to represent you in a private matter. However. they will give you some general guidance. Definitely start there.

Most JAG Offices have lists of all the lawyers for that area on fliers broke down by who deals with what. Any legal services you get on post would be free. I don’t think they deal with custody issues. Best bet would be to find a civilian lawyer that specializes in family court.
