Jennifer C asked:
My husband served me with divorce papers in February, but after reconciling, told me that the divorce was put on hold. When he decided to end the reconciliation, the court date was already passed. I haven’t received any information regarding this and I’m really confused. I was told that I had to file an answer with the courts so he doesn’t get custody of our daughter because of me not going to the court date. How do I file an answer? I can’t afford an attorney.

Below is a link to the Texas Divorce Handbook. It was created for people such as yourself who want to represent themselves in a simple divorce. For more complicated divorces, however, you stand a significant risk of forgoing important rights if you don’t hire an attorney, especially if your husband has one.
