    public defenders are used in criminal cases

    possibly, if the mother has a lawyer, and the father makes less than a ceratin amount of money.

    If money is an issue he can go to legal aid in his city. It should be in the phone book. Some law firms are required to take a certain amount of cases pro bono(free).

    the father is responsible for his own attorney because it’s not a criminal case, went through a similar situation and found this out.

    A public defender is for a criminal case….child custody is a civil (Family court) matter…therefore, no a father isn’t…but if the child kills the father, the child could possibly be eligible for a public defender.

    not sure about the states but here in canada we have legal aid ..here it depends how much u earn…..check it out u might have something simular ….good luck!!!!
